School-aged children living within Broward County are assigned to a school based on their primary residential address and grade level. This is the child's boundary school. We understand families want to have options for their child's education, which may include a choice other than their boundary school.
During the School Choice Phase II application window (May 1, 2017 – September 1, 2017), you may submit two applications for your child for remaining available seats for magnet programs or school reassignments.
A separate application is needed for each of the school choice categories.
- Magnet programs focus on specific areas of interest
- School reassignments allow a student to attend a school other than his or her boundary school based on space availability
Families who applied during School Choice Phase I do not need to submit an application during School Choice Phase II, unless a magnet program or reassignment school change is desired. Waitpool applicants will be notified by September 1, 2017, if their child is awarded a seat. Applicants in a waitpool are not guaranteed a seat.
for a schedule of future selection dates.
Please note: Nova schools do not accept applications during the School Choice Phase II application window.
