School Board Announces Receipt of Applicants for Superintendent of Schools
The School Board of Broward County, Florida announces it has received 47 applicants from the search team of Ray and Associates, Inc. in its search for a new Superintendent of Schools. Applicant resumes and materials submitted for consideration can be reviewed on the District’s website. Resumes received after the original posting may be added if postmarked by the deadline of Tuesday, August 16 (midnight Central Standard Time).
The search team will begin the process of reviewing and screening applicant materials August 18 – 28. The screening will include checking references and performing background investigations for the leading candidates. Proposed semi-finalists who best meet the characteristics, qualifications and experience requirements identified by the Board will be taken from the pool of vetted candidates. Ray and Associates, Inc. will present the list of proposed semi-finalists to the School Board for consideration on Monday, August 29 at 1:30 p.m. at a Special School Board Meeting.
The semi-finalists interviews will take place on Monday, September 12 at a Special School Board Meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m. At the conclusion of the interviews, the School Board will select the finalists who will be interviewed at the Special School Board meeting on September 14. These meetings are open to the public.
Ray and Associates, Inc. is providing an opportunity for all District stakeholders to submit questions they would like asked of the final candidates at an open public forum scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at J A World at Broward College North Campus in Coconut Creek. The search team will establish a condensed list of questions from solicited questions and from input obtained during stakeholder forums held in June.

The finalists’ public appearances will include an initial introduction at a “Meet the Press” media event planned for Tuesday, September 13, at 4:15 p.m. Parents, students, staff and community members will have the opportunity to meet the candidates at Community “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, September 13 from 6 to 7 p.m. at J A World Broward College North Campus. A public forum will immediately follow the “Meet and Greet” from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The School Board will conduct a final interview of each candidate open to the public on Wednesday, September 14 at a Special School Board Meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Board is expected to select a Superintendent finalist at that time.
The School Board is selecting a new Superintendent to succeed James F. Notter, who retired June 30, 2011. Donnie Carter is currently serving as Interim Superintendent. |
