Experience Broward

They came from as far away as Hawaii, Texas, Oklahoma and even England.

And they all had one purpose: to become a teacher in a Broward County public school.

On May 28th and 29th, the District held its annual Experience Broward Teacher Recruitment Fair at the Broward County Convention Center. This two-day event allowed potential teachers to meet and interview with principals from public schools across the county. Every Broward public school was represented at the fair.

This year's event was the largest so far, with more than 2,600 people taking part. For next year, the District needs to hire about 2,077 new teachers – in part to replace those teachers leaving and retiring as well as to address the new class size amendment requirements. Instructional Staffing officials hoped to hire about 800 teachers as a direct result of the Recruitment Fair.

In fact, many of those who attended the event were given contracts on the spot – now all they have to do is make their arrangements to move down and join the Broward County Public School family.
