While the 2002/03 school year is only about a month
old, for high school juniors and seniors, college is something right
around the corner. And as they get ready, they have a few questions:
- How can I arrange a campus visit?
- What are the application deadlines?
- When must I choose a major?
- How are roommates selected?
To help answer these and other the many other questions students and
their parents have about college, the District is once again hosted
a
College Fair. The event was held from
5-9 p.m. Wednesday,
October 23rd at the
Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower
Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.
There were representatives from more than 200 colleges, universities
and technical institutes from around the United States on hand to provide
information and reassurance to families getting ready to send a child
off to school. This event is an invaluable opportunity for all students
and parents, not just the "college or university bound," to
learn about educational choices and opportunities. Several workshops
will provide critical information to students and parents.
Some of the workshops included:
• Financial Aid (English & Spanish Presentations ) – The Money
Piece I
• The College Bound Athlete
• What Highly Competitive Colleges Look For In Applicants
• Maximizing Computer/Internet Resources For College Planning
• Community Resources (for students with special needs)
