Every year, the Broward County School
Districts recognizes one JROTC cadet who is head and shoulders above
the rest. This year,
Cadet Command Sergeant Major Evans Gabriel was
chosen for this honor.
Cadet Gabriel is from Hallandale High School and was chosen
as the County's top cadet due to his academic excellence, the numerous
contributions he has made to the community and the fact his actions
as a cadet are a role model for all students (and adults.) He has been
part of Hallandale High's JROTC Program since it began, and has served
as a vital member of the group. Evans believes anyone thinking about
joining the JROTC should give it a try.
"You never know until you see what it has to offer," he said. "The
lessons you learn discipline, honor, integrity don't only apply
to a military life, they apply to life in general."
In addition, this past February, Florida Governor Jeb Bush announced
the winners of the Second Annual Governor's All-Stars. When the names
were read, Cadet Gabriel was among those chosen for this honor. Cadet
Gabriel has also been honored by Major General Rochelle, the Commanding
General for the United States Army Recruit Command, for his superior
performance.
Congratulations, Cadet Command Sergeant Major Evans Gabriel on a job
well done! Keep up the good work!
