On Friday, May 3, more than 3,000 Broward County Public School students
had the opportunity to see first hand just some of what our
Armed Forces can do, thanks to the McDonald's
Air & Sea Show.
The students, many of whom were JROTC cadets from high schools
across the county, got to see F-14, F-16 and F-18 attack jets as
well as the
bat-like B-2 bomber and the supersonic B-1 bomber. The U.S. Army's
elite parachute team the Golden Knights "dropped in" on
the day and talked with a number of students.
Many of the students were in awe of the military might
America has, but realized that as fantastic as many of
the planes and ships are, it takes
people to make them work. Along with the "oohs and ahhs" that
accompanied every high-speed pass of a fighter jet, many students were
heard saying: "I could do that."
Who knows, thanks to the Air & Sea Show experience,
some of tomorrow's protectors of the United States may
come from Broward County.
