North
Broward Hospital District Presents
BCAA GAME OF THE WEEK
McArthur 42 Hallandale 7
|
The Mustangs' convincing victory over the Chargers demonstrated that
McArthur is quietly becoming an elite football power in the BCAA.
The Mustangs won their fourth game in a row and now sit atop their
district with a 5 – 1 overall record.
Mustang’s quarterback Carlton Bowe put his name in the record
books by throwing the longest pass in BCAA history. Backed up on
their one-yard line, Bowe hit a streaking Bryan Graham for a 99-yard
score. This bold call came after two consecutive Mustang penalties – a
false start and a delay of game. No one in the crowd or in a Charger
uniform expected McArthur coach Keith Franklin to call for the bomb
in that situation.
Bowe threw only four passes completing three for 191 yards. Bowe
sealed the Mustang win in the fourth quarter by completing a 48-yard
touchdown pass to Devon Okafor.
Mustang running back Emmanuel Cruz led a spirited running attack,
gaining 174 yards on 18 carries. Cruz showed that the Mustang running
attack did not lose a step with the graduation of All-County back
David Robinson.
The McArthur defense, led by linebacker, Tayari Jones held the Charger
offense to seven points. The Charger offense did themselves in with
penalties – they had two touchdowns called back due to motion
penalties.
