North
Broward Hospital District Presents
BCAA GAME OF THE WEEK
Everglades 14 Nova 11
|
There’s no place like home…. There’s no place like
home…. For the past 30 years, the Nova High Titans have played
their high school football games on the road. Over 2,000 fans jammed
the new Titan Stadium to witness the first home football game in
the history of Nova High. While history was made as Nova High christened
their new athletic stadium, unfortunately, the Everglades Gators
sent the Nova fans and team home with a loss.
Approximately four years ago, the School Board and the Town of Davie
entered into an agreement to fund and construct an athletic stadium
complex at Nova High. With the assistance of parent groups and anonymous
donors, the on-campus stadium is now a reality. School Board Member
Carol Andrews remarked at the dedication ceremony that, parents,
students, boosters, Town of Davie residents and the entire Nova community
came together to make this dream come true.
For the Everglades Gators, this was a watershed win. The Gators won
their second game of the season, and first win over an established
BCAA school. The Gators' earlier victory was over the first year
Monarch Knights. Gator running back Gary Ingleton, scored two touchdowns
and ran for 70 yards on 16 carries. After three-quarters, the Gators
lead 14-3. Nova closed the gap to 14-11 on a 15-yard touchdown strike
from quarterback Josh Jones to wide receiver Brandon Williams.
The Nova High Stadium complex reflects the School Board of Broward
County’s commitment to provide quality athletic facilities
to students and the community. The athletic facility will be enjoyed
by student athlete’s participating in multiple sports offerings
including soccer, flag football and track and field.
