North
Broward Hospital District Presents
BCAA GAME OF THE WEEK
Everglades 38 Monarch 0
|
It was an evening of firsts! The first year Everglades Gators can
lay claim to being in first place and undefeated after a convincing
38-0 win over the Monarch Knights.
Gator running back Jonathan Woodward (#2) led a crushing running
attack that amassed over 320 yards. History was made on the Gators'
first play from scrimmage. After taking the hand off from quarterback
Andre Murphy (#7), Woodward cut to the outside and sprinted 66 yards
for the Gators' first score. Jonathan Woodward’s name will
be immortalized in Everglades history as the first student athlete
to score a Gator touchdown.
The Gators jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead, and never looked
back. At half time, the Gators were in full control leading 31-0.
Andre Murphy also made history by throwing the first Gator touchdown
pass when he connected with Cody Carlson in the end zone for a 28-yard
score.
The Gators and Knights experienced the same challenges facing first
year ball clubs. Both teams’ lack practice facilities, lockers,
showers and a home stadium. Nevertheless, both schools came out with
exuberance pride and passion. For the Monarch and Everglades community
it was a moment to celebrate the present and dream of the future.
