Barbara Gregory’s motto of “family first” led from being a parent volunteer, to serving in various positions in the PTA, to becoming a school board employee.  While volunteering at her children’s school, Barbara’s work ethic and ability to communicate with the public was recognized and she was offered a position as a clerk/typist in the front office.

Attending training whenever it was available, Barbara was promoted to the position of the principal’s secretary and later confidential secretary. Her organizational skills and capability for handling the various crises which can occur has made her indispensable in her school. She has developed and executed many systems and procedures that helped school operations throughout the office and the school to function at optimal levels. Barbara is also her school’s Benefits and Substitute Coordinator, back-up Payroll and PAF Processor.

When technology was introduced into Broward schools, she became the go-to person for anything having to do with computers. She is sought out district wide for her ability in create databases and working wonders with the most difficult computer programs. Her observations and input resulted in system changes that increased both capacity and efficiently.

Barbara’s greatest strength is comforting children. She recognizes individual needs and her soothing ways have been able to calm some of the most distressed youngsters. Her desk is a safe haven for students whenever needed. She has also assisted families in getting access to the community services they need. Through her personal contacts in the community, she successfully managed to help a family get their son a pair of desperately needed eyeglasses. She is loved and respected by the students, the community and her colleagues.
