Students at Four BCPS Year-Round Schools Head Back to the Classroom to Begin New School Year

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, while most students are still enjoying summer break, it’s time to head back to the classroom for over 2,700 students who attend four year-round modified calendar schools in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).

More time off during the school year means a shorter summer break for students at Colbert Elementary School, Lake Forest Elementary School, Watkins Elementary School and McNicol Middle School.

“The success of our students begins with being in school on the first day and every day, on time and ready to learn, said Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “We look forward to working together with our families and the community to make this an exciting time for our students.”

Superintendent Runcie will begin his day on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, by welcoming students, parents, teachers and staff on the first day of the 2016/17 school year:

7:30 a.m.
Colbert Elementary School
2702 Funston Street
Hollywood, FL 33020

8:15 a.m.
McNicol Middle School
1602 S 27th Avenue
Hollywood, FL 33020

Media are invited to cover the Superintendent’s visits.
