Join BCPS for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is excited to participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® on October 27, 2016, and join millions of readers across the nation in reading the book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.      
 
In addition, through a partnership between BCPS, the Children's Services Council, and multiple Broward County early childhood stakeholders, a free copy of The Bear Ate Your Sandwich will be provided to each pre-kindergarten and kindergarten child in Broward County.  That’s 40,000 books for 40,000 children!
 
Guest readers include School Board members, Superintendent, District staff, and representatives from sports teams, local businesses, organizations, libraries and more. To register as a guest reader, visit www.handsonbroward.org
 
Media are invited to cover the following Read for the Record® events:
  • Wednesday, October 26, 2016 (Countdown to Read for the Record®) –  BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie reads to students at Markham Elementary School, 1501 NW 15th Ave., Pompano Beach, FL 33069, at 8:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, October 27, 2016 – Read for the Record®  events are taking place at schools across the District.  Below are a few highlights of school activities and community guest readers. Media must check-in at each school’s front office upon arrival.
