​Congratulations to Cooper City High School for Winning the 2016 School Duel Championship for a Seco

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) congratulates Cooper City High School for winning the 2016 School Duel Championship!  School Duel is South Florida's premier, locally produced, academic-based television quiz show. The competition is designed to reward and showcase intellectual talent among local high schools, as well as serve as a positive educational tool for students. School Duel featured 20 high school teams from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

This is Cooper City High’s second consecutive School Duel championship win.  The team completed its back-to-back championships by defeating Suncoast High School (Palm Beach County) in the final round.  Cooper City High’s team (pictured above) consisted of Joseph Torres (12th grade), Benjamin Goldstein (11th grade), Blane Silverman (12th grade), Juel Johnson (12th grade) and Arik Goldstein (11th grade).  The team’s school advisor is David Schultz.  

This season, each of the players on the winning team received $1,000 from Chick-fil-A and BrightStar Credit Union, a championship trophy from EDCO Awards and Specialties, gift certificates and much more.

The 2016 season of School Duel was also supported by the following sponsors: U.S. Army, McFatter Technical High School, Museum of Discovery & Science, Elettro Apps, Spaghetto and Xtreme Action Park.
